What is the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family Christmas program?
The Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program is where the Salvation Army will pair up a family in need with a sponsor. This year, we agreed to sponsor two families with 3-4 members in each. The Salvation Army provides us with the family Christmas Wish List which includes the following:
- Children’s Age, Grade and whether they are Male/Female
- The children’s 3 wishes (toys, etc.)
- Shirt, Pants, Jacket, Pajamas, Socks, & Shoe size
- Parents clothing size/wish
In addition to the above items, each family will receive a grocery store certificate for the Family Meal.
To the left are just a few samples of some of the items that are asked for.
We partner with the Winslow Fire Department who sponsors one of the two families that we receive. They all get together and purchase the items on that families list.
For the other family, we have a Christmas Tree up in our lobby area with individual item on each ornament. There are a total of 30 ornaments available. Stop in to pick up an ornament and purchase the item on the back.
All items must be returned by Monday, December 11th. The Salvation Army asks that we please DO NOT wrap the items and also that we keep the tags with the items.
We appreciate your help in providing Christmas to these families in need and giving back to our local community!
